The Work of Compassion in World Farming
Compassion in World Farming was founded in 1967 by a British farmer who became horrified by the development of modern, intensive factory farming. For over 40 years, Compassion in World Farming has campaigned peacefully to bring about its vision of a world where all farm animals are treated with compassion and respect and where cruel factory farming practices end. Although they have a track record of success, with landmark achievements such as securing a EU-wide ban on the veal crate, there is still so much more to do.

WARNING:
Video contains undercover
footage of pig farming in Europe
Every year more than 1.3 billion pigs are slaughtered for meat worldwide. These intelligent, sociable animals are often kept in conditions where they never see the light of day. Many piglets start life having their tails docked and teeth clipped, without anaesthetic. In many countries, it is common for breeding sows to spend most of their life in cages so narrow they can’t even turn around.
By giving each month you can help fund the persistent work of Compassion in World Farming as the fight to outlaw cruelty to animals and to change attitudes to farming and food production.
Compassion in World Farming also run the Good Egg Awards for companies who source only barn or free-range eggs, instead of eggs from caged hens. Previous winners include Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, McDonald’s and the National Trust.
Just £5 a month can help protect millions of animals from cruelty and suffering, and aid the vision of a world where farm animals are treated with compassion and respect. Over the past 40 years, Compassion in World Farming have achieved a real improvement in farm animal welfare throughout the world, but their work can only continue with your help.
