Every deaf child has the same aspirations as a hearing child.

FACT - deafness is not a learning disability.  The most important way that deaf children can determine their own future is through education. The current education system is highly geared to verbal communication and the NDCS are working hard to to ensure that deaf children are given the best educational opportunities to achieve their full potential.

The NDCS supports deaf children by :

• lobbying government officials and petitioning the prime ministers office
• helping families fight for their child’s educational needs
• representing and supporting parents going through educational appeals
• providing impartial information on all aspects of childhood deafness
• providing deaf awareness information to teachers and education professionals
• lending equipment to support communication needs in school

Every deaf child has the same aspirations as a hearing child.  The NDCS are committed to closing this gap between deaf children and their hearing peers so that every deaf child is able to fulfil their potential.
