About PDSA Young Pet Protectors Club

Along with the welcome pack you will also receive a birthday card and the chance to win days out, DVDs, books, games and even a holiday. The PDSA need to raise £3 million every month to keep caring for the pets of people who can't afford the services of a vet. Every day the PDSA provide free veterinary treatment to more than 4,650 sick and injured animals across the UK.

About the PDSA

The PDSA was founded in 1917 by animal welfare pioneer Maria Dickin, who opened her first 'People's Dispensary for Sick Animals of the Poor' in Whitechapel, London on 17th November 1917. By 1935 Maria had established 5 PDSA hospitals and 71 dispensaries throughout the UK, alongside 11 motor caravan dispensaries that travelled around rural communities providing free PDSA veterinary care.

To this day, the PDSA is the UK's leading non-campaigning veterinary charity, employing the largest number of fully qualified veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses in Europe, whilst caring for more than 350,000 pet patients each year. Maria's long term dream of offering free veterinary treatment for sick and injured pets has become reality, with 43 PetAid hospitals and 352 PetAid practices across the UK. This dream has only become reality thanks to the kind donations from the public who support the PDSA and help it to expand nationwide to offer free pet care for those who cannot afford it.
